How do I import my Clever sections as classes in CommonLit?

If your school's or district’s technology director has chosen to share its data with CommonLit on Clever, you can import your Clever sections into CommonLit.

If you already have a CommonLit account...

You can click the “Login with Clever” button on CommonLit’s Login page to begin, or you can click the CommonLit logo on your Clever dashboard. CommonLit will first ask if you would like to link your existing account to Clever. You must link your account to import Clever sections to CommonLit.

Once you have linked your account to Clever, you can choose to import your Clever classes immediately or at a later time. When you choose to import your classes from Clever, you should see your Clever sections on your Manage Classes page after a couple of minutes.

If you already have classes and students on your CommonLit account, CommonLit will import your Clever sections as new classes on CommonLit. Your existing classes will remain on your account so no previous assignments will be lost, but you may see duplicate classes and students.

If you don’t have a CommonLit account yet...

You can create an account linked to Clever! Just click the CommonLit logo on your Clever dashboard to get started or click the Login with Clever button on CommonLit's Login page. You will be asked a few questions about your account preferences, and then we will create your account for you. From then on, you can click the Login with Clever button on CommonLit’s Login page to sign in at any time.

Once you have created your account, you can choose to import your Clever classes immediately or at a later time. You can import your classes later by following the steps below:

1. Click the Create a New Class button on the home page

2. Select the "Import Classes from Clever" button

Note: If you are able to connect your CommonLit account to Clever, but you do not see the classes you wish to import from Clever, please contact your district's Clever administrator to request the classes be shared with CommonLit.
