Is there a rubric for grading short answer responses?

CommonLit has created a short answer rubric for Middle School and High School. Each rubric includes criteria and descriptions to help determine strengths and areas of growth for short written responses. While CommonLit provides an exemplar guide for each question, it is up to teachers to determine whether a student meets or does not meet these expectations. Short written responses provide valuable insights into student learning and should be used formatively in conjunction with additional measures to evaluate student performance.

Each assessment question on a CommonLit assignment is worth the same amount of points (this includes Part A questions, Part B questions, and short-answer questions) for a total score of 100 points. Refer to the following FAQ to learn more: How does the short answer grading scale work?
