Is there a rubric for grading short answer responses?
A great way to maintain consistency in your grading is to weigh student answers against a rubric. This ensures that “meeting expectations” means the same thing each time you score student responses. To that end, CommonLit has created a short answer rubric for Middle School and High School Library Lessons. You can use these rubrics while grading student responses to short answer questions on Library Lessons. This will help you decide where student responses fall on the scale of proficiency and provide guidance around which writing and reading skills students need more support with. Feel free to download these rubrics.
To find this rubric from the grading page, click the red play button in the grading panel. This will pull up a window with a Show me How video and the downloadable grading rubric.
