How do my students resume their Assessment Series test or Free Reading Assessment later?

Most students complete the tests in 50-60 minutes. However, Assessment Series tests and the Free Reading Assessment are not timed tests, and all students are permitted to use a reasonable amount of time to finish the test. In order to achieve the most accurate results, each test should be taken in one sitting or class period when possible.

If a student needs to resume their assessment at a later point, we do save their answers and they can return to complete their assessment at any time. Students simply need to return to their My Assignments page and click Resume assessment for their assignment under their Assessments To Do section.

You can lock students' tests to prevent them from viewing test content outside of class. For more information, see: How do I lock an Assessment Series test or the Free Reading Assessment to prevent students from working on it outside of class?

💾  Additionally, CommonLit can only save progress on assignments and assessments when students are logged in. CommonLit logs students out after a period of inactivity, so if they leave their test up on their device to return to later, they may continue their assessment while logged out, which prevents us from saving their progress. If a student is not able to complete their test in one sitting, please have them close CommonLit or log out of their account at the end of their session. This will ensure they are prompted to log back in when they return to CommonLit to resume their test.
