How do my students resume their Free Reading Assessment later?
If your district has chosen to purchase Assessment Series in CommonLit School Essentials PRO or School Essentials PRO Plus, you will not have access to the Free Reading Assessment. Instead, you’ll be able to collect baseline data through the first assessment in the Assessment Series. You’ll also have access to a Mid-Year and a Post-Assessment to help you track students’ reading growth throughout the reading year.
CommonLit strongly suggests students complete their assessments within one 45-60 minute session for test validity purposes. However, if students need to resume their assessments at a later point, CommonLit does save their answers and they can return to complete their assessment at any time. Students simply need to return to their My Assignments page and click the teal "Resume Assessment" button.
Please note: a student's assessment can be unsubmitted from the Student Status page under the Actions column if a student accidentally submits before completing all of the questions. You should not unsubmit to allow a student to receive a higher score.
Additionally, you can lock the assessment for all students or for specific students. To read more on how to lock and unlock the Free Reading Assessment, please see the FAQ: "Can I lock the Free Reading Assessment to prevent students from working on it outside of class?"
