CommonLit requires setting some basic cookies for all users to run the services of the site, including logging users in and keeping them logged in. The site will not function properly without these cookies being set.
CommonLit also uses several cookies to gather aggregate data for internal research and development. These allow us to answer questions such as how many users in a month accessed a particular text set or 360 lesson, or what page visitors most visited in a month. These cookies are not required for the site to function. These cookies are disabled for users in the European Union and additional opt-in options are forthcoming for users around the world.
If you are having issues using the site because cookies are disabled on your browser, follow the steps below to enable 3rd-party cookies:
Chrome Browsers
If you are not using an incognito Chrome browser, you will need to unblock cookies by completing the following steps:
1. Open your Chrome browser.
2. Click on the Chrome menu.
3. Select Settings...
4. A new Settings tab should open up. Click the Privacy and Security option.
5. Under Privacy and security, select Cookies and other site data.
6. Under General Settings, unselect Block third-party cookies.
If you are using an incognito Chrome browser, 3rd party cookies may be blocked by default. You will need to unblock cookies by completing the following steps:
1. Open your incognito Chrome browser.
2. Look for the eye icon on your address bar.
3. Click the eye icon and click the Site not working? link.
4. Click the Allow Cookies button.
5. You should no longer see a slash in the eye icon if you've allowed cookies.
Safari Browsers
If you are using a Safari browser, cross-site tracking may be disabled by default. To enable cross-site tracking on Safari, you will need to complete the following steps:
Safari on Desktop Computers
1. Open your Safari browser.
2. Click on the Safari menu.
3. Select Settings...
4. A new window should open up. Click the Privacy option.
5. Next to Website tracking, uncheck Prevent cross-site tracking.
Safari on Mobile Devices/Tablet
1. Click on the Settings.
2. Scroll and click on Safari.
3. Under Privacy and Security, disable Prevent Cross-Site Tracking.
