If your district has chosen to purchase Assessment Series in CommonLit School Essentials Pro, you will not have access to the free reading assessment on CommonLit.org. Instead, you’ll be able to collect baseline data through the first assessment in the Assessment Series. You’ll also have access to a Mid-Year and a Post-Assessment to help you track students’ reading growth throughout the reading year.
When you import your classes from Google Classroom, you have the option to post your Diagnostic (and other assignments!) to Google, and send updates to Google when students turn in their tests.
The posting is not automated and must be kicked off by a teacher using our Share features.
After creating a Diagnostic, a teacher should click the Share icon in the top-right corner of the Diagnostic (from the Assignments page or Diagnostic Dashboard). A Share window will appear with an option to Post to Google. Teachers should click this option, check that the details on the next Share window look correct, and click Post! The Diagnostic will appear in Google Classroom on the Diagnostic's start date.
Please note: there is no option to share student scores on the Diagnostic with students. Scores will not be sent to Google Classroom for the Diagnostic. All other CommonLit assignments have the option to share scores with Google Classroom.
If your class was not imported from Google, you can still use our "light" Google integration to post an Announcement of the Diagnostic to Google. Click Share > Post Announcement to Google. When doing this, we cannot connect the assignment you make in Google back to the CommonLit Diagnostic, so we cannot mark students as turned in on Google Classroom.
