CommonLit's supplemental texts have Guided Reading Mode questions. These ungraded questions are quick checks for understanding embedded within a text. They work well for independent practice. However, CommonLit 360 lessons are designed for in-class instruction that is led by a teacher.
We are replacing Guided Reading Mode in CommonLit 360 reading lessons with during-reading questions that have more variety than only multiple-choice questions. These are the embedded “Turn and Talk”, “Think and Share”, “Write”, and “Find Evidence” questions in 360 reading lessons. Like Guided Reading Mode, these questions will chunk and blur the text beneath them, if teachers have chosen to require student answers to them when creating or editing the 360 reading lesson.
