Once the Test Date has arrived for the pre-assessment your teacher scheduled for your class, you will see the the test appear on your My Assignments page under your teacher's class's name.
Click on the pre-assessment to open the test. Then, you will see a window pop up with general instructions about the test, and you will be asked to provide us with your testing location: At home, At school, or Other.
You will not be able to continue to your test until you select one of these options. Once you have done so, click the "GOT IT" button and then you'll be able to begin reading the passages and answering the questions. You will see this window each time you refresh your page or re-open your test, and you must select an option again each time.
The pre-assessment includes three reading passages and multiple choice questions. Once you have carefully read the three texts and answered each question to the best of your ability, click "CONTINUE" on the last question. Then click "SUBMIT ASSESSMENT" once and then again a second time to officially turn in your pre-assessment to your teacher. If there are any questions you did not answer, we will let you know and you'll be able to go back and answer any missed questions by clicking the "BACK TO ASSESSMENT" button.
For a quick explanation of how to complete your pre-assessment, you can watch our YouTube video: Student Pre-Assessments on CommonLit.
