There are three ways teachers can share an assignment:
- Using our Google Classroom integration
- By copying our assignment link and sending it to students
- By emailing students the assignment link
When you create an assignment, we open up a Share Assignment window with these options. If you exit out of it, you can reopen it by pressing the Share icon in the top-right corner of the Assignment (or from its Dashboard or Report) at any time.
When you share an assignment to Google Classroom, we automatically embed the assignment link in it. Learn more about sharing assignments to Google Classroom here: Can I post assignments to Google Classroom?
Every assignment for every class or small group has its own assignment link. If you create an assignment for multiple classes, there will be multiple assignment links for those classes. Be sure to share the correct assignment link with students through your LMS, email, or however else you are sharing the assignment.
Choosing to email the link to the assignment will pull up the default email client on your computer. If your computer doesn't have an email client, clicking the email option may not do anything.
When a student clicks an assignment link, it will ask them to log in to CommonLit and will then redirect them to the assignment. When a teacher clicks the assignment link, it will redirect them to the Assignment Dashboard.
