If your district has chosen to purchase Assessment Series in CommonLit School Essentials PRO or School Essentials PRO Plus, you will not have access to the Free Reading Assessment. Instead, you’ll be able to collect baseline data through the first assessment in the Assessment Series. You’ll also have access to a Mid-Year and a Post-Assessment to help you track students’ reading growth throughout the reading year.
The CommonLit Free Reading Assessment will be available to schedule for the new school year beginning July 24th.
You can schedule a Free Reading Assessment for grades 3-12. To do so, visit the CommonLit library, search "free reading assessment", and then click "Schedule Assessment" to go to the scheduling page. Alternatively, you can select the purple Free Reading Assessment box from the Home Page., then click "Schedule." From there, you can preview a sample assessment before scheduling the assessment.
On the assessment scheduling page, you can schedule a Free Reading Assessment for one class or multiple classes at a time. Choose the class(es) for which you wish to schedule the assessment, the class's grade level (not reading level), and the test date. If you have a mixed-grade class, choose "Assign by student grade level" to give students different grade level assessments within the same class.
Please note, if you choose a test date in the future, your students will not see or be able to complete their assessment until the test date arrives.
