You can view diagnostic data on the diagnostic's Data page as soon as at least one student has submitted their diagnostic.
From your Assignments page, click on your class' name and then find the diagnostic. Click the teal PERFORMANCE DATA button to view comparative data, your students' raw scores, and their standards averages.
If all of your students have completed their diagnostic, the diagnostic will move to the Completed view on your Assignments page. Click on the "Completed" tab under the Assignment Status section on the left to find your class' data there.
For best practices on how to differentiate in order to support students at different reading levels, see our blog post: 4 Ways to Use CommonLit to Support Differentiation.
We do not offer item analysis for this diagnostic assessment, so neither teachers nor students can see how students answered individual questions. Students will not see their assessment on their My Assignments page after they have submitted.
We do show teachers and students how students answered individual questions for all other CommonLit assignments. However, the diagnostic is merely intended to help you understand your students' proficiency at the start of the year so that you can then assign CommonLit reading assignments accordingly.
Note: If your district has chosen to purchase Assessments Series in CommonLit School Essentials or CommonLit School Essentials Pro, you will not have access to the Diagnostic feature on CommonLit.org. Instead, you'll be able to collect baseline data through the first assessment in the Assessment Series.
