Yes, you can omit all CommonLit assessment questions from an assignment and choose to only assign the text to students. This serves to only assign reading and no questions to students.
When creating an assignment, choose "Do not assign assessment questions" from the Assessment Options dropdown. If you do not Enable guided Reading Mode either, then students will see no guiding questions on their assignment either. Instead, they will be able to hear the text read aloud, translate, and submit annotations.
Students must click the "Submit Your Assignment" button at the end of their assignment in order to submit it and indicate to you that they have finished reading the assignment. Assignments without assessment questions are never marked In Progress (only Not Started and Submitted), but you can view live annotations as students make them from the Student Annotations page. Click the highlighter button on an Assignment to go to the Annotations page.
