There are two ways to join a class that was already imported from Google Classroom if you are a secondary teacher.
- Connect your account to Google and have your co-teacher sync it. This works well if you are the primary teacher of other Google Classroom classes you need to import.
- Join the class as a co-teacher with the class code.
Option 1: Connect to Google
To connect your account to Google Classroom, you need to attempt to import a class from Google Classroom.
- Confirm you are enrolled in the same official public or private school as your co-teacher. Go to your My Account page and click Edit for the school to make sure it is not an "other" school.
- Go to your Manage Classes page.
- Click Create a New Class.
- Click Import Classes from Google Classroom.
- Log into the Google account that is associated with the classes you want to join.
- Grant CommonLit permission to integrate with your Google Classroom account.
- That's all we need for your co-teacher to sync the class and import you! You can exit out of the process now.
If you don't exit out of the import process, you will see a class list of classes you can try to import. If you try to import a class that has already been imported, you won't be able to import that class. Not to worry. You can exit out of the import process and ask the primary teacher to sync the class.
Option 2: Join Class as Co-Teacher with class code
- Confirm you are enrolled in the same official public or private school as your co-teacher. Go to your My Account page and click Edit for the school to make sure it is not an "other" school.
- Ask the primary teacher for the class code for the class you would like to join.
- Go to your Manage Classes page.
- Click Join Class as Co-Teacher.
- Enter the Class Code and submit.
- The class owner will receive a notification that they need to accept (or decline) your request!
- We'll notify you when the request is accepted or denied.
