Canvas: How can I resolve an assignment conflict?
If you're unable to access a CommonLit assignment from your Canvas course, it may be due to a link conflict between the assignments. This can happen when a CommonLit assignment is unlinked from one Canvas assignment, but re-linked to a different Canvas assignment.
To fix this issue, you have two options:
Option 1: Recreate this Canvas Assignment
1. On the top right of your Canvas assignment, click Edit Assignment Settings.

-
Then, click the ellipsis on the top right and select Delete.

-
After, click Assignments on your left course navigation.

- Click the blue + Assignment button to create a new assignment.

-
Find "CommonLit" under Submission Type > External Tool.

-
Select the CommonLit class with the assignment you want to link to Canvas.
- Select the CommonLit assignment you want to link to Canvas.
Option 2: Unlink the CommonLit Assignment from Canvas
-
Go to CommonLit and click on the assignment from your My Classes > Assignments page.
-
Click the Unlink Canvas button.
-
Then, go to Canvas and click on your Canvas assignment again.
- You should now be able to access your CommonLit assignment from Canvas.
