CommonLit student assignments have an offline mode feature embedded in them; however, there is no official "offline mode" for students.
We don't offer a fully offline app that can be used like a computer application or phone app. To save student responses and teacher assignments/grades, we do require an internet connection.
We do offer an offline feature on student assignments that will save answers in a student's browser if they have unreliable or disconnected internet. When the student's internet stabilizes, we save their answers to our database. This works so long as the student's internet stabilizes before their session expires (we log students out after 2 hours for security purposes). We've found this offline mode feature helps the majority of students working remotely due to COVID-19.
If you have any additional questions on how to support your students virtually with offline mode or any other CommonLit feature, please reach out to help@commonlit.org or via our live chat feature (the teal "help" button) from 9 - 5 PM EST on Monday - Friday.
