How do I add a new student to my Clever synced classes?
CommonLit will match your roster data shared with us on Clever exactly. CommonLit will automatically sync your Clever rosters to import new students for you.
I am not seeing updates to my Clever sections reflected on CommonLit. How often does CommonLit sync/replicate my Clever sections?
Currently, CommonLit replicates or updates Clever sections to its rosters within an hour for School Essentials partners, and once per week, on Saturday evenings, for free users. Due to timing between when an SIS may update Clever sections and when CommonLit gets data from Clever, changes may take up to 2 days to appear in CommonLit.
Free users can request a sync of their classes by clicking the Sync with Clever button on their Manage Classes page. It can take up to 15 minutes to sync fully, though it often takes less.
However, School Essentials partners will not see this Sync with Clever button on their accounts since we automatically run updates for partners within an hour.
If a student is missing from both your Clever and CommonLit rosters, please reach out to your Clever administrator to add them to Clever class first.
However, if a student is listed in the class in Clever, but is not appearing in the class in CommonLit after the classes have been synced, either via an automatic sync or a manual sync for free users, check to see if you have any hidden classes. If you have recently switched semesters, it's possible the student is not appearing in the class because the class is from the first semester, and your second semester version of the class is hidden on your Manage Classes page.
