Why did you create CommonLit 360 Edition 2.0 for Middle School (grades 6-8)?
CommonLit listens to feedback from teachers and administrators who implement the CommonLit 360 curriculum in their classrooms, and also strives to ensure that the curriculum is research-backed and constantly improving in order to improve outcomes for students. All updates were initiated with teachers and students in mind, with a focus on how to help students build grade-level skills and aid teachers in improving their practice:
- Updates were made in order to respond to teachers' need to improve students’ reading stamina, to engage students with more relevant and real-world topics and activities, and to build their own understanding of the materials with additional planning and implementation support.
- The curriculum's alignment to research-based best practices has been strengthened by aligning more tightly to grade-level standards/expectations, and by building in skill and knowledge progressions so that students are ready for the next grade level by the end of the year.
