Can I assign only the multiple-choice questions on Library Lessons?

Yes, you can choose to assign only multiple-choice questions/omit short-answer questions when assigning a Library Lesson.

Every CommonLit Library Lesson comes with a set of standardized, rigorous final Assessment Questions. These can include multiple-choice and short-answer questions (most texts have both, but some only have one type).

Teachers can choose to assign all Assessment Questions (recommended), only multiple-choice questions, only short-answer questions, or no Assessment Questions when creating an assignment. To assign only multiple-choice questions when assigning a Library Lesson, select Only Multiple-Choice Questions below Questions to Assign.

Teachers cannot edit this choice after creating an assignment, so choose carefully. CommonLit only allows you to create one copy of an assignment in a class, so if you plan to work on multiple-choice one day and short-answer another day, choose to assign all Assessment Questions when you create the assignment.

When you assign only multiple-choice questions, you will not need to grade students' short-answer responses, and CommonLit will automatically generate total scores for students. Students will not see these total scores until you release scores on CommonLit.

Please note: it is not possible to assign only multiple-choice questions on Target Lessons.
