How do I create an assignment from the text library?
Teachers can create assignments directly from the Text Library. When logged in as a teacher, click Text Library from the menu on the left. You can then browse Featured or Trending texts in each grade level by using the grade dropdown or select a Curated Tab at the top to find texts on a specific topic.
Alternatively, if there is a specific text you are looking for, or you would like to filter the library to find texts that suit your needs, you can click Search & Filter. Then, you can enter the text you are looking for or search by keyword. Additionally, you can use the filters to filter by grade level, genre, standard, and more.
When you identify the text you want to assign, click the text thumbnail to open the text, and then click the Assign button above the text’s title. This will open the Student Assignment Preview page, and a Create an assignment view will pop up.
From there, select the class(es) or individual student(s) you’d like to assign the text to, choose to disable Guided Reading Mode or enable it for specific students, select the Assessment Questions to assign, and set the start and due dates and times. The start and due times will be automatically filled with 12:00 AM and 11:59 PM, respectively, but you can edit either one before assigning. You can also click Customize directions (optional) to edit the Annotation Task. Finally, click the Assign button at the bottom!
Once you have created the assignment, you will be able to see it on your Assignments page. However, students will not be able to access the assignment until the start date and time has arrived.
Please note: the due date and time does not remove student access to the assignment, so students will still be able to submit the assignment after the due date and time have passed, and their submission will be marked as late on the Assignment Report.
