My student's name changed. How do I ensure their name is changed throughout CommonLit, including their username?
If a student's name changes, the student or teacher can edit the first and last name on the account from the student's My Account page or the teacher's Manage Students page. If the student is controlled by a third-party integration, a sync should update the student's name to match data from the integration.
Usernames are automatically generated at account creation by CommonLit to ensure they are unique. Once the student's name is up to date in CommonLit, please reach out to help@commonlit.org, and a CommonLit support agent will generate a new, unique username for the student that uses the student's new name. They are also happy to help you update the student's first or last name if you require assistance.
