I added students to a class roster where texts had already been assigned. How can I assign those assignments to the new students?

If class assignments are less than 30 days old, CommonLit will automatically assign them to new students who join that class.

If class assignments are more than 30 days old, CommonLit does not automatically assign them, but rather marks the students as exempt. Teachers can assign these assignments to students from the Assignment Dashboard.

You can get to the Assignment Dashboard from the Assignments page by clicking on the name of the lesson that your student(s) need to be added to.

Once on the Assignment Dashboard, you should see a list of your students. Any student that has been exempted from the lesson will show a blue Exempted pill icon next to their name. You can add those students back to the assignment by clicking Un-Exempt in the Actions column.
