How is CommonLit 360 vertically aligned?
CommonLit 360 is designed to move students through increasingly more rigorous texts and tasks as they progress through the school year and through the grades. Each unit builds on learning from the unit before; each grade builds on learning from the grade before. For example, students begin to learn the writing, speaking and listening skills needed for making an academic presentation in sixth grade. They further develop these skills with presentations in each of the following grades, as targeted lessons teach them more nuanced and persuasive approaches each year. Utilizing backwards design and meticulous vertical alignment, CommonLit 360 gives teachers the tools they need to ensure that students will be college and career ready at the end of twelfth grade.
