I am a parent. What is CommonLit and the CommonLit Assessment Series?

CommonLit is a comprehensive literacy program on a mission to close the literacy achievement gap and support all students in becoming proficient readers, writers, communicators and problem solvers.

CommonLit provides a full-year ELA curriculum, CommonLit 360, to teachers at no cost and offers a digital library featuring a wide range of standards-aligned texts, supplemental lessons and Target Lessons designed to support the individual learning needs of all students. Our materials are easily accessible to teachers and students, both online through the digital platform or offline as downloadable resources.

The Assessment Series consists of three grade-level benchmark test that students can complete throughout the school year. These assessments give teachers helpful information about how students are performing on end-of-grade-level expectations in reading comprehension. These assessments also provide information on how students are performing compared to other students in CommonLit's network who took the same test.
