Why isn't the Free Reading Assessment available as a PDF?

If your district has chosen to purchase Assessment Series in CommonLit School Essentials PRO or School Essentials PRO Plus, you will not have access to the Free Reading Assessment on CommonLit.org. Instead, you’ll be able to collect baseline data through the first assessment in the Assessment Series. You’ll also have access to a Mid-Year and a Post-Assessment to help you track students’ reading growth throughout the reading year.

While CommonLit wants the Free Reading Assessment to reach as many students as possible, for test validity and security purposes, unfortunately, CommonLit cannot provide teachers the ability to download a PDF of any of our assessments. For the same reason, CommonLit does not offer answer keys for the assessment.

If you need PDFs to meet legal accommodations for students, please email help@commonlit.org with the grade level(s) you are testing and a CommonLit support agent will do their best to assist.
