How will CommonLit import my Canvas courses? What if a Canvas course is cross-listed?

This article is intended only for customers and partners using Canvas. Our Canvas integration is available for schools and districts who purchase our School Essentials PRO package.

CommonLit will import a Canvas course with multiple sections as one CommonLit class. LTI does not allow CommonLit to import individual sections that have been cross-listed as unique classes.

If you have cross-listed your course, we will import your course as one CommonLit class with all students across your sections.

If you would prefer for CommonLit to show each section as its own class or to link assignments from Clever, ClassLink, Google Classroom, or manually created classes back to the Canvas gradebook, please refer to our Using Canvas Sections with CommonLit guide.
