If I import my course from Canvas, how do my students log in to their accounts?
This article is intended only for CommonLit customers with access to Canvas as a part of the CommonLit School Essentials PRO package.
When you import a course from Canvas to CommonLit, student accounts will automatically be linked to Canvas. This link allows grade passback to Canvas. However, CommonLit does not have a Log in with Canvas option on its login page.
When students click on a CommonLit assignment from Canvas, they will most often be logged directly into CommonLit. If it is their first time accessing CommonLit that year, they may see a CommonLit log in screen where they can choose to log in with Clever, Google, or manually using their CommonLit email or username and password.
If students get stuck on this screen, you can always reset their CommonLit password and look up their CommonLit username on your CommonLit account. You can do this by visiting the Manage Students page for the student's class > finding their name > and clicking RESET for them from there.
